Other Lotteries (Promos)
The LSLGA has classified other Lotteries into:
● Private Lotteries,
● Charitable / Society Lotteries
● Promotional Competitions
Private Lotteries as the name suggests refers to activities in which ticket sales is confined to a set or group of persons. Such private Lotteries are not open to public participation.
Charitable/Society Lotteries: are lotteries promoted on behalf of a society which is established and conducted wholly for charitable purposes.
Promotional Competitions otherwise known as “promos” are largely conducted by corporate bodies to reward customers’ loyalty to a brand and / or create awareness for new products and services.
Before conducting “promos” in Lagos State, corporate entities are required to obtain a permit to conduct such promotional competition(s). Application fees for promo license are available on enquiry.
LSLGA will consider an activity fit for registration as a promotional competition where it includes:
● Game;
● Scheme;
● Arrangement;
● system;
● Plan;
● Device.
An activity will also be considered for a promo where it requires subscription for distributing prizes by lot or chance. Subscription here means the payment, delivery of any money, goods, articles, matter or things including any ticket, coupon or entry form for the right to compete in the promo.
Guidelines to obtaining a license for promotional activities are contained in the guidelines for promotional competition.
