LSLGA LAW

Prior to the enactment of the Lagos State Lotteries Law in 2004, the lottery industry was unregulated and formed part of the informal sector. With the appropriate Law in place, the then Lagos State Lotteries Board commenced operations as this berthed a new regime of governance in Lottery and Gaming activities in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Lotteries Law of 2004 was amended in 2008 to reposition the Lottery and Gaming industry to the exigencies of global trends and international best practices while retaining the peculiarity of the Nigerian environment. Considering the incessant technological innovation and advancements, multiple legislations, and contemporary issues in the gaming sector in Lagos State, previous laws were consolidated in Y2020 and assented by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on the 19th of April 2021.

The new Law has successfully harmonized all Lottery Laws and different categories of Gaming such as Casinos, Jackpot, Pools, Lotto. Virtual, Sports Betting, and rapidly expanding E-Sport.

Stakeholders’ Protection:
The LSLGA Law has provided adequate protection to all stakeholders in the lottery and gaming industry thus, we encourage all punters in Lagos State to always check the LSLGA website for registered/Licensed lottery and gaming operators before staking.
